Only a few letters remain from the once-glittering Barbary Coast, a reminder of the casino’s heyday in Las Vegas. Opened in 1979, the Barbary Coast was a small yet vibrant staple on the Strip, known for its intimate, classic Vegas atmosphere. Over the years, the landscape changed, and in 2014 the Barbary Coast was transformed into what is now The Cromwell, a luxury boutique hotel.
In this painting, these fragmented letters echo the transition of time, holding onto the memories of an earlier, wilder Las Vegas. The remaining letters stand as relics of a past identity, woven into the city's ongoing narrative of reinvention.
