The Lady Luck, now the Downtown Grand, holds a special place in my memories. It was the first hotel my mother ever gambled at when she arrived in Las Vegas in 1979. Unfortunately, the gambling bug bit her, and she played the slots to her dying day. But back to the signs—this one still had a lot of gold left in it, its shimmer refusing to fade. And yes, the pigeons managed to get a spot in this painting, too, adding a touch of life to the scene.
