Landmark Decision

My friend Dan called me and said, 'You better get down and paint the landmark because they're removing it from the boneyard today'. I dashed out the door. I had many fond memories of the Landmark. This was one of the easiest and quickest paintings and compositions I ever did there. I had just finished painting it when the crew arrived to remove it. I watched as they lifted it away. I thought of cutting it out of my image and lifting it into the sky portion of the painting for a day or so. It was so entertaining to watch the removal. The sign was fully repaired and now resides on Paradise Road where the Landmark itself once stood. This is the benefit of rescuing the history of Las Vegas.
