What a beautiful sign this was. I could do a series on a handful of signs at the Boneyard and this was one of them. Signs were often difficult to access and I had to find little niches to crawl in or sit on to create a composition. My gear was a backpack and a small folding stool. I often painted in the early morning hours and looked for shade, to paint the light. This sign has such a feminine feel -- not only the colors, but the soft, gentle shapes. I am delighted that they chose this representation over a pink flamingo! My friend Dan refers to it as the Flaming O!
