Eli Levin is one of my favorite painters and teachers. He sets a fine example for art as a daily discipline. I have learned to see art as my dedication and work by showing up everyday and observing the immediate world around me because of him. Eli has been living in the small town of Dixon in Northern New Mexico in a cluster of old adobe houses and studios that he built himself at the end of a dirt road along the river. He paints the river, the mountains, the cars and wheel barrows, anything his eyes land upon and every chance I get I go with him on a plein aire outing. These are the woods and river outside his front door. Traveling I reduced my supplies to black paper and a variation of white pencils. Happy with the results.
