The old neon signs of Las Vegas were crafted using either neon tubes or bulbs, each with its own method of creating vibrant displays. This painting focuses on the enamel-painted bulbs, a detail I hadn’t known about until I encountered them here. The colors were not achieved solely through glass or light, but through carefully painted enamel on each bulb, a technique used to create specific hues. What truly captured my interest, though, was the way the paint had chipped over time, allowing reflected light to play across what remained, giving the bulbs a unique and weathered beauty.
